Ithaca Journal Scouts Dartmouth

Not including Friday's games

* Matchup: Dartmouth (5-17, 1-7 Ivy League) at Cornell (6-16, 2-6), 7 p.m.

* Radio: WVBR (93.5). Online: Follow Brian Delaney's in-game twitter updates (@BDelaneyIJ) at www.ithacajournal.com/twitter.

* Coach: Paul Cormier (first season, 5-17; Cormier coached at Dartmouth from 1984-91)

* Last time out: Dartmouth dropped a 69-60 decision to Yale at home last Saturday. (The Big Green played Friday at Columbia).

* Previous meeting: Dartmouth broke a 10-game losing streak to Cornell on Jan. 28, building a lead as large as 28 points before winning 64-57 at Leede Arena. Five Dartmouth players had between nine and 11 points in the win.

* Probable starters: David Rufful (6-4, 210, Jr., G/F), Clive Weeden (6-9, 220, Sr., F), Jabari Trotter (6-1, 195, Jr., G), R.J. Griffin (6-4, 185, Soph., G), Kirk Crecco (6-3, 195, Jr., G).

* Key reserves: Tyler Melville (6-2, 180, Fr., G), Nick Jackson (6-5, 190, Fr., F), Gediminas Bertasius (6-5, 210, Fr., F), Matt LaBove (6-9, 235, Soph., C), Mbiyimoh Ghogomu (6-5, 205, Soph., F).

* Statistically: Leading scorers are Rufful (8.7 points per game), Trotter (8.5 ppg) and Griffin (8.5). ... Dartmouth leads the all-time series, 102-99. ... Dartmouth is 7-14 in Newman Arena, and 2-11 on the road this season. ... Senior point guard Ronnie Dixon has missed 12 straight games with an injury. ... Jackson scored 18 points in his first 17 appearances before a 17-point outing against Brown last Friday. He followed up with eight points in the Yale loss. ... Trotter is shooting 43 percent (32 for 75) from the three-point arc this season, but only 33 percent in Ivy League games (nine for 27).

* Outlook: It'll be interesting to see Cornell's level of motivation for this one, as the Big Red was soundly beaten in Hanover three weekends ago. It might have qualified as the low point of a challenging rebuilding season. Since then, Cornell has played more competitive basketball, particularly at Newman Arena. If Dartmouth outworks Cornell again, a season sweep for the Big Green is well within its grasp. It's just difficult to envision Chris Wroblewski, Adam Wire and Co. allowing that to happen.
