Afternoon News and Notes

Some afternoon news and notes...

  • Brian Delaney announced via Twitter, "We'll have Bill Courtney on the show today at about 415. Said Miles A-A is still in the hospital waiting on blood tests to come back." Listen live to the interview at ESPN 1160 Radio.
  • Per the Baltimore Sun, Maryland is reloading with talent just in time for Cornell's January 3 visit to College Park.

Sure, Cornell is an Ivy League school, and everyone knows the Big Red are more concerned with flux capacitors than athletics, but Cornell is about as good as it gets when it comes to Ivy League basketball. The Big Red are in a bit of a down year but they’ve been the Ivy representitive in the tournament three of the last four years, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2010, so Penn State’s 74-67 win last night is still worth mentioning for Patrick Chambers’ rebuild.

  • Courtesy of State Sheet, some stats from last night's game:
-Shonn Miller recorded a team season high in rebounds with 11.
-Drew Ferry tallied a team season high in field goals attempted with 15.
-The top two scorers (Drew Ferry and Shonn Miller) accounted for 52.2% of the points.
-Shonn Miller accounted for 33.3% of the team's rebounds.
-Drew Ferry has led the team in scoring 5 times in 10 games this season.
-Shonn Miller has led the team in rebounding 6 times in 10 games this season.
-This marks the 7th 20-point game of Drew Ferry's career.
-Shonn Miller recorded the 2nd double digit rebound game of his career.
-This was the 2nd foul out of the season for Shonn Miller.
-Shonn Miller recorded a double-double. It was the 1st of his career.
