The preseason poll was just released a few moments ago by Wesley Harris of the Ivy Office.

  • Greenwood mentions new changes in the offensive control (charge rule). He calls it a quasi-NBA rule.

  • Jonathan Tannenwald, Philly.com asks Jones what it will take to knock off Cornell. Jones responds, "You have to be at a high level consistently to beat them."

  • Steve Donahue takes the stage at 11:34 a.m.

  • Jon Tannenwald asks Donahue to compare his Cornell team to some of the great Penn teams of the past. Donahue responds that although he doesn't have guards like Jerome Allen and Matt Maloney, he feels his team has a more dominant center in Jeff Foote.

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Ivy League officially tipped off the 2009-10 basketball season on Wednesday, October 28 with the announcement of the men’s and women’s basketball preseason polls and its men’s preseason media teleconference.

The men's preseason media teleconference featured all eight men’s head coach for approximately 10 minutes, each giving his thoughts and insights entering the start of the 2009-10 regular season. Reggie Greenwood, the League’s coordinator of men’s basketball officials, also participated on the call to discuss the major rules changes and points of emphasis for the upcoming season.
