Schedule Update: Siena's Desire to Challenge Itself Does Not Include Cornell

According to MidMajorMadness.com, Siena Coach, Fran McCaffery wants to challenge his team during 2009-2010. Apparently, he wants to do so, as long as it does not include risking a loss to an Ivy League team on the road. Accordingly, Siena has refused to face Cornell in Ithaca during 2009-2010 (see our related post by clicking here).

While one can certainly understand and appreciate Siena's concern about defeat at a fellow mid-major like Cornell, Siena's planted story about every team in Division I refusing to play them is just pure science fiction out of Loudonville, New York.

During 2009-2010, teams such as Seton Hall and St. Joseph's have agreed to face Cornell in Newman Arena. Cornell also has challenged itself by setting up away games at Kansas, Syracuse, Alabama, La Salle and UMass while also facing Davidson and potentially St. John's in the Madison Square Garden Holiday Festival.

Cornell and Siena are both overwhelming preseason favorites to win their respective leagues during 2009-2010.
