Gatlin Brings Big Game Experience to Big Red

Anthony Gatlin, No. 3 above, battles for position against Texas Tech on December 1, 2007. Gatlin transferred to Cornell at the conclusion of the 2008-2009 season.

Mark Coury isn't the only new transfer in the Cornell Basketball program bringing big game experience to the Big Red.

Anthony Gatlin, a 6'8" rising junior guard/forward and transfer from Centenary College, also played an integral role in a big win for his last college team.

On December 1, 2007, as a freshman starter for Centenary, Gatlin helped the Gents shock Texas Tech, 70-66. Texas Tech led 35-32 at halftime and opened the second half with a 14-3 run to lead 49-35. But Centenary scored the next 13 points, 8 of them from Gatlin. He made a 3-point shot, a 3-point play and a layup as Centenary got itself back into the ball game. Gatlin finished the game with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals on 5/11 shooting from the floor in helping Centenary record the upset.

Gatlin retains two years of eligibility at Cornell and will commence play for the Big Red during the 2010-2011 season.
