Video Action of Transfer, Anthony Gatlin

Above, Anthony Gatlin, a transfer from Centenary College, brings Division I experience to a young Big Red team in the 2010-2011 season.

Before transferring to Cornell, Anthony Gatlin played for Centenary College during the 2008-2009 campaign. Then a sophomore, the 6'8" Gatlin, a face-up forward, posted 4.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in 18 minutes per game. Ultimately, Gatlin left the Gents' program at the end of the season when the school announced it was transitioning to Division III status beginning the 2011-2012 school year.

While Gatlin landed at Cornell, several of his former Centenary teammates also transferred to Division I programs, including Chase Adams (Pitt), Damon Starring (Boston College), David Perez (Lafayette), and Gary Redus (South Alabama). Centenary, which finished the 2008-2009 season 8-23 with a Ken Pomeroy rating of No. 246 out of 344 Division I teams, was ranked ahead of five of the Ivy League teams, including Princeton (13-14, No. 260), Penn (10-18, No. 267), Columbia (12-16, No. 274), Brown (9-19, No. 302), and Dartmouth (9-19, No. 304). Meanwhile, Harvard (14-14, No. 343) and Yale (13-15, No. 340), were ranked just slighly ahead of Centenary. Cornell was ranked No. 81.

Centenary fell 90-84 in the game, but received 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal from Gatlin.
